Visual Studio 2010 is the most extensible version of Visual Studio yet. This session will cover some of the new extension features as well as the Visual Studio SDK, and will concentrate the recently released TFS SDK.

Andrew Coates has been a Developer Evangelist for Microsoft in Australia since January 2004. Before joining Microsoft, Andrew was an independent consultant specialising in database applications using Microsoft technologies including SQL Server, Visual FoxPro and Microsoft Office.

Andrew's wide range of experience includes telecommunications, SMB inventory, dispatch and accounting systems, using both web and rich client front ends. He has developed and delivered class room training and has mentored a number of developers in Visual FoxPro and SQL Server technologies. Andrew has spoken at international conferences on Geographical Information Systems, health statistics and database maintenance and is a regular presenter at TechEd both locally and internationally. May Meeting - Brian Farnhill, Developing with SharePoint 2007 and Visual Studio 2010

This month SharePoint Server MVP Brian Farnhill will walk you through how Visual Studio 2010 can be used to develop solutions for SharePoint 2007. During the session he will cover what existing tools and utilities can be used in the new version, as well as how the new Team Foundation Server release can be incorporated into the process.

This session is designed for those who are currently developing SharePoint 2007 based solutions that are keen to move to the latest development tools but aren’t yet ready to move everything to SharePoint 2010.

Join Group Product Planner for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, Sam Guckenheimer at this special User Group briefing. Visual Studio 2010 is an exciting release with a significant emphasis on Application Lifecycle Management and integration with teams. The driving force behind much of this innovation has been Sam Guckenheimer.

In this session, Sam will discuss the design decisions behind the new and enhanced functionality and will give an insight into the process behind building such a significant piece of software.

About Sam Guckenheimer

Sam Guckenheimer is the author of Software Engineering with Microsoft Visual Studio Team System. He has 25 years experience as architect, developer, tester, product manager, project manager and general manager in the software industry in the US and Europe.

Currently, Sam is the Group Product Planner for the Microsoft Visual Studio product line. In this capacity, he acts as the product owner, chief customer advocate, responsible for the end-to-end external design of the next releases of these products. Prior to joining Microsoft in 2003, Sam was Director of Product Line Strategy at Rational Software Corporation, now the Rational Division of IBM. He holds five patents on software lifecycle tools. A frequent speaker at industry conferences, Sam is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Harvard University. Sam lives in the Seattle area with his wife and three children in a sustainable house they build that can be seen in Metropolitan Home magazine.
